Mumbai Police’s Anti-Narcotics Cell has once again intensified its crackdown on alleged high-profile drug networks, with popular social media influencer Orry (Orhan Awatramani) being questioned in connection with a ₹252 crore mephedrone racket. The case, which came to light in March 2024, has gained significant public attention due to the names of well-known personalities emerging during the ongoing investigation.
According to reports, Orry was summoned after his name surfaced in the statement of Mohammad Salim Shaikh, the key accused in the case. Shaikh was arrested after being deported from Dubai earlier this year. During interrogation, he reportedly informed the Anti-Narcotics Cell that he had organized multiple drug-fueled parties in Mumbai and Dubai, allegedly attended by Orry and several prominent figures from Bollywood and politics.
High-Profile Names Surface in Probe
In addition to Orry, the suspect reportedly named actor Siddhanth Kapoor, dancer and actress Nora Fatehi, well-known filmmaker duo Abbas-Mustan, and NCP leader Zeeshan Siddique as attendees at these gatherings. The Mumbai Police have also issued summons to those named to verify the claims, trace possible drug network links, and determine whether any of them were directly involved in consuming or facilitating the distribution of illegal substances.
However, police officials have clarified that no charges have been filed against Orry or any other named individuals at this stage. The calls for questioning are part of routine verification procedures to establish facts and connections within the racket.
Synthetic Drug Racket Traced to Maharashtra Farm
The mephedrone racket was first uncovered when authorities detected illegal manufacturing at a farm in Sangli, Maharashtra. The synthetic drug popularly known as “MD” was allegedly produced in high quantities and trafficked to metropolitan hubs, including Mumbai and international locations such as Dubai.
Investigators believe the drug may have been circulated among wealthy and influential circles, leading to suspicions of high-profile users and suppliers being involved. This has prompted the Anti-Narcotics Cell to widen the scope of their probe, focusing on financial trails and event organizers who may have facilitated distribution.
Orry’s Cooperation and Public Response
Sources reveal that Orry has fully cooperated with the authorities during the questioning session and has denied any involvement in drug-related activities. His fans and social media followers have shown mixed reactions some defending him strongly, while others await clarity as the investigation progresses.
Given Orry’s popularity, especially among Bollywood circles and social media audiences, this development has sparked widespread media coverage and speculation online. Industry insiders suggest that this probe could potentially lead to more names from the entertainment sector being brought under scrutiny in the coming weeks.
Police Maintain Neutral Stand
Officials emphasize that the investigation is ongoing and based on statements and evidence, not assumptions or rumours. The Anti-Narcotics Cell is expected to conduct further interrogations and forensic examinations of seized materials to determine the extent of the drug network and identify those directly responsible.
So far, authorities have reiterated that Orry has not been accused or charged with any offence and has only been questioned for verification purposes. Any further action will depend on credible evidence emerging from the probe.
As the investigation deepens, more details are expected to unfold regarding the ₹252 crore synthetic drug racket and its alleged high-profile links. For now, the Mumbai Police continue their efforts to dismantle the illegal mephedrone network and hold accountable those involved in its production, supply, and consumption.
