Assam CM Launches Prerona Scheme: ₹300 Monthly Aid for 4.4 Lakh Class 10 Students to Boost Exam Success

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has officially launched the Prerona Scheme a major educational support initiative aimed at helping Class 10 students prepare for upcoming board examinations. The launch event was held on Friday at the Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra in Guwahati, marking a significant step towards improving learning outcomes and reducing school dropouts in the state.

Under this scheme, more than 4.4 lakh Class 10 students appearing for HSLC or CBSE exams will receive ₹300 per month for four months, totaling ₹1,200 per beneficiary. The financial aid is intended to support essential academic needs such as books, study materials, nutritious food, and other educational expenses, ensuring students remain confident and focused during their crucial academic year.

Education Minister Ranoj Pegu highlighted that Prerona Scheme will play a crucial role in cutting dropout rates, particularly among underprivileged and rural households, where financial limitations often disrupt continuity in schooling. He added that such initiatives can significantly improve pass percentages and overall enrollment in secondary education.

Meanwhile, Cabinet Minister Pijush Hazarika praised the initiative, calling it a steady and timely support for students aiming for success in board examinations.

With the Assam government pushing strong measures to enhance educational access and equity, the Prerona Scheme is expected to create a positive impact on thousands of young learners, boosting their morale and enabling them to pursue their academic goals with confidence.
